Slurpee Week (July 15, 2012)

No. I did not get any free slurpees. We don't have any 7-11's in Pamplona. Elder Bacera and I were wondering if they did that here and if not, how much slurpees we could get by telling them they do it in America.

This week saw a shirt with this yellow arrow on it and yes, for 50 peso's I bought an In-n-Out shirt here in the Philippines from Southern California.

This week wasn't a bad week, just had some less than awesome days. Like one day we only got one lesson in because our other appointment at one house was unavailable.

We talked with the Goa Stake Patriarch for a little bit, so that was pretty cool.

Then another day we were teaching our investigator up on the mountain and as I was telling her all about Joseph Smith and his first vision and the restoration of the church, she didn't even look at me. Afterward to see if she even payed attention, I asked who Joseph Smith was. She said she didn't know. Really frustrating, here I am pouring my soul to tell you the most important thing you could ever hear in your life and you are more concerned if the three year old on your lap has something to hold. Now I understand the importance of having a calm three year old in lessons, but she was quiet and she might have been more interested than you. That and then none of our Less Active's came to church. But we had three investigators there at church. (All with the same problem, no marriage.) That was really exciting.

Now for the Highlights:

Two of our non-marriage investigators have been making a lot of progress or have said they have plans to start the process so that is pretty cool, I guess.

Then, one of our other ones who is a Part member was basically leading us in the discussion about the apostasy and when we asked if she had questions at the end of the lesson she said "How did the church come back on the earth"! I mean, who on earth asks how the church was restored on the earth after hearing that it was taken away. It was awesome, but she didn't come to church.

Then as we were at one of our part members the wife said to my companion, "Elder you're fat." Just out of the blue. She is the same one who couldn't stop telling me that my hair was very long during the lesson. Kinda funny.

SO today I got some pouch from the Institute. The Senior Elder gave it to me and said, "It's from a Janelle Hull." I said, "I don't know her. I hope she is cute." His wife said, "I am sure she is." But I was like it might be from the institute and Sister Hull... and sure enough it was and I was like, well, she is cute-like a grandma. So yeah kinda funny.

Companionship is really good, probably the best in a while, I love Elder Sabala he is cool. The language is going ok I guess. People have to ask what I meant less and the are correcting me now more instead of just ignoring me.

Well that was our week, hope everything is going well at home for you all.

Love

Elder Westenskow

P.S. That is so weird that Sam is almost done, and that Ryan is almost in. I am still here almost to one year, freak time goes by fast.

That is pretty funny about Katie Wagner and dad's friend, question is she cute?, But I heard something like, "It is a small world but a smaller church."

Try this one, Elder Vogelsberg is from Texas, so to make some small talk I ask where from- he says Dallas area-I say oh really where from? He says you wouldn't know-I say try me-ready? He's from FRISCO and he knows David's family. Yeah cool huh.
