October 15
This week we were going from place to place-like no time to do much work, but most of it will help increase effectiveness, most of it.
Tuesday was an ordinary day, not boring but nothing super exciting there.
Wednesday is where the fun starts. Because we had meetings all the other days of the week, we had a Weekly planning session. At the end of the session, we went to get stuff for lunch. So we get back and try to pry open our window to open another one so we can open the door from the inside...no lock on the outside. So we try to prop it open and it was bolted shut still. So we have NO way to get back in and we are standing outside with groceries. Remembering situations like this, I said a simple silent prayer. Then we tried to find some lever to prop open a window, no avail. We do this for like 20 minutes. Then I say Elder Patino we need to say a prayer, just as soon as he was going to suggest that. We say our prayer, reach into our study room and pick up a metal pointer thing. Then Elder Patino within like 20 seconds pries open the lock and we get inside...who ever says prayers don't work or God doesn't care can go sit locked outside our house. Anecdotal side story, he couldn't repeat his performance again. So then for Wednesday we also worked with our couple missionaries, so they took us up to the top of the volcano by us and looked for all kinds of people, didn't find anyone though.
Thursday we had a Leadership training in Legazpi so that took most of our day. That was fun; saw most of my favorite people in the mission. Also learned a lot from President about the Gospel of Jesus and being completely led by the spirit, very good day.
Then on Friday we had a district meeting in the morning and exchanges in the afternoon. and because they kinda happened accidentally we forgot to change keys for the bedrooms, so I slept on a bench in the living room.
Now for Conference, loved it. I loved seeing the faces of the crowd when the news was announced, the 18 year old who was now dreading the fact he didn't have anymore time to lose and the 19 year old sisters who were elated that they got to leave. But there seemed to be two major themes for me at least. One, we are so close to the end I kept thinking of Jacob 5 and the more laborers. Also a theme of repentance was very prevalent, like you can-it is still there.
Well that was my week, not a bad one. Oh and we got a new doorknob, that I fixed myself so, no more worries of getting broken into.
Elder Westenskow
He's so awesome. Love his prayer story.
